  • Laid down in 1820, at Portsmouth Navy Yard, N.H.
  • Remained uncompleted on the stocks until launched, 15 February 1855
  • Commissioned, 9 June 1861, CAPT. Henry Eagle in command
  • Assigned to the Gulf of Mexico, departing Portsmouth, 20 June 1861
  • Reassigned to Flag Officer Farragut's West Gulf Blockading Squadron in January 1862
  • Decommissioned at Boston, 4 September 1862
  • Refitted and recommissioned, 4 October 1862, assigned as school ship for the Naval Academy at Newport, R.I.
  • Assigned to the Naval Academy at Annapolis at the close of the war, serving as school ship, gunnery ship and barracks ship
  • Sunk at her moorings, 2 April 1912, at Annapolis
  • Sold, 2 August 1912, to Joseph G. Hitner, Philadelphia
  • Final Disposition, towed to Boston and burned for the copper and brass in her hull
