  • Laid down, date and location unknown
  • Purchased by the Navy at New York City, 3 September 1861
  • Commissioned USS Sarah Bruen, 3 February 1862, at the New York Navy Yard, Acting Master Abraham Christian in command
  • Assigned to CDR. David D. Porter's mortar flotilla at Ship Island, MS. in support of Flag Officer Farragut's attack on New Orleans
  • Participated in the shelling of Southern forts prior to Farragut's ships racing past the Confederate batteries and capturing New Orleans
  • Sarah Bruen was next assigned to blockade duty off Mobile Bay
  • She was next recalled by Flag Officer Farragut to participate in the siege of Vicksburg
  • The schooner next duty was with the West Gulf Blockade Squadron
  • Ordered north in the spring of 1864 for repairs at New York
  • Following repairs Sarah Bruen was ordered to Port Royal, S.C., 27 June 1864, for blockade duty inside Charleston Harbor's bar
  • Decommissioned at New York, 6 July 1865
  • Sold at public auction, 15 August 1865 to a Mr. Rhinehart
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
