  • March 1864 she was taken down to Drewry's Bluff to be fitted out, and placed in command of CDR. T. R. Rootes, CSN.
  • CSS Fredericksburg actively engaged Federal forces in the James River from mid-1864 until the end of the war
  • Participated in an action with Union ships in Trent's Reach, 21 June 1864, August, October, December 1864 and January 1865
  • Destroyed by Confederate forces to avoid capture by Federal forces with the evacuation of Richmond, 3 April 1865
