USED Snagboat Josephine

Snagboat:

Built in 1873 at Freedom, PA., completed at Pittsburgh, PA.

Launched in 1873

Operated as a Packet on the Missouri River

Purchased by the US Engineers, 13 April 1885, at Sioux City, IA.

Transferred to Missouri River

Commission USED Snagboat Josephine at Bismarck, ND in 1889

In 1900, based at Sioux Ice Harbor, SD.

Placed out of service and sold prior to June 30, 1906

Final Disposition, while operating as a packet she was cut down by ice at Running Water, SD, 8 March 1907 and sank. Her machinery was salvaged and shipped to Alaska for use on a Yukon River steamer.
