  • Built in 1908 for the US Army Engineers, hull laid down in 1908 at Howard Shipyard, Jeffersonville, IN.
  • Launched in 1908
  • Original price, $30,830.00, Much of the equipment used in building Mammoth Cave came from ex-USED William Preston Dixon
  • Delivered, christened, commissioned and placed in service by the the US Army Engineers in 1908
  • Assigned to the US Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District
  • USED Snagboat / Towboat Mammoth Cave operated on the Green, Barren and Tennessee Rivers
  • Retired in 1936
  • Sold at public auction, 31 July 1936, to Tom and Jeff Williams
  • Sold to CAPT. Hiernaux, rebuilt her as a towboat, renamed Richard
  • Laid up, date unknown, at Charleroi, PA.
  • Final Disposition, while laid up at Charleroi she burned, 10 December 1940
