USED Towboat Elinor

Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Laid down 1905 as the towboat Elinor at the Howard Shipyard, Jeffersonville IN.
  • Launched in 1905
  • Delivered 1905 to the US Army Corps of Engineers
  • Assigned to the US Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District
  • Commissioned in 1905 and placed in service as USED Towboat Elinor
  • Elinor was employed on the Mississippi River
  • IN 1924 Elinor received a new steel hull, at the Howard Shipyard, Jeffersonville, IN. (146 x 24 x 4)
  • Completely rebuilt in 1930
  • Retired from US Army service, circa 1941
  • Sold in 1941 to the Greenville Sand & Gravel Co., Greenville, MS., renamed W. W. Fischer
  • Final Disposition, dismantled in 1960
