50k | U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District conducted a load test for a crane that was recently installed on the former USED Derrick Boat
McCauley in Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio, 16 October 2018.
The load test will establish if the barge crane is safe to operate in water, which will allow for the continuation of critical federal infrastructure maintenance in the Great Lakes by the Buffalo District floating plant crew. 91k | Paul Bijhouwer, Buffalo District Civil Engineer, reports on the load test of a newly fixed crane on the barge that was formerly the
USACE Derrick Boat McCauley. The replacement of the aging crane and successful completion of the load test allows the Buffalo District to resume their mission while ensuring the
safety of the public and the Corps of Engineers workforce. The converted Crane Barge McCauley (BD-2979) will be back to work until the season ends on November 9, 2018, and again in 2019 and
2020.
