  • Laid down in 2003 at Bender Ship Building, Mobile, AL.
  • Launched in 2003
  • Delivered to the US Army Quartermaster Corps in March 2004
  • Allocated to the US Army Corps of Engineers, christened, commissioned and placed in service in March 2004 as USACE Crane Barge Choctawhatchee
  • Assigned to the US Army Corp of Engineers Tuscaloosa Project Management Office
  • Choctawhatchee's mission is to perform snagging operations, debris and rock removal, and channel maintenance for the Black Warrior/Tombigbee (BWT) and Alabama River Systems from the mouth of the Mobile River to Birmingham and Montgomery, AL. It also sets and removes stoplogs and provides general support for lock repairs.
