Namesake
Fort Gage FORT KASKASKIA situated on the eastern bluffs of the Kaskaskia River, opposite the village of Kaskaskia. It was erected and occupied by the British in
1772. and captured 4 July 1778 by Virginia state forces under the command of George Rogers Clark.
