  • Built in 1857 as the iron -hull steamer Explorer at Reaney, Neafie & Co., Philidelphia, PA.
  • Assembled by George A. Johnson & Co. in the lower delta of the Colorado River
  • Exlorer was for Second Lieutenant Joseph Christmas Ives and used by him to carry the U.S. Army Corps Topographical Engineers expedition to explore the Colorado River above Fort Yuma in 1858.
  • Explorer was converted to a barge in 1864 after her engine was removed
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
