Brico


Steamer / Non-self propelled Cable Repair Barge:
  • Built in 1908 as the steel-hulled F/V Chicago (I) by Moran Bros. Shipyard, Seattle, WA.
  • Launched in 1908
  • Delivered in 1909 Chlopeck Fish Co., Seattle WA.
  • Sold in 1913 to Booth & Co., Seattle, WA. as a halibut steamer
  • On 1 May 1913, Chicago (I) was damaged slightly by stranding at Fish Egg Island, AK.
  • On 21 June 1913, Chicago (I) was wrecked at Warm Chuck, Prince of Wales Island, her cargo was a total loss but her hull was salvaged, converted to a barge, renamed Brico
  • Converted to a cable laying barge for use by the US Army
  • Damaged in a stranding in 1929
  • Sold in 1929 to the British Columbia Telephone Co., Vancouver, B.C.
  • Sold in 1964 to Capital Iron and Metals Co., Victoria, B.C.
  • In 1964 she was pulled ashore at Fanny Bay, B.C. and converted to a restaurant
  • Sold in 1968 to Joseph McLennan, Mac's Oysters, Fanny Bay, B.C.
  • Final Disposition, broken up at Fanny Bay, circa 2008
