Gretchen (SP 1181)

Motorboat:

  • The second Gretchen was built in 1902 by White of Belhaven, NC
  • Acquired by the Navy 20 August 1917
  • Commissioned 24 August 1917 at Oriental, NC
  • Decommissioned 1 January 1919, struck from the Navy Register and returned to her owner
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 11 t.
  • Length 54'
  • Beam 12'
  • Draft 3½'
  • Speed 9 kts.
  • Armament: Two 6-pounders.
