Wild Goose (SP 562)


Wild Goose served both the U. S. Navy and the city of Norfolk, VA

Motorboat:

  • Built in 1913 by the Gas Engine and Power Co. and the Charles L. Seabury Co., Morris Heights, NY
  • Acquired by the Navy 21 April 1917
  • Commissioned 25 June 1917
  • Loaned to the City of Norfolk, VA 21 June 1920
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 24 August 1920 and placed on the sale list
  • Sold 17 November 1920
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Length 60'
  • Beam 10'
  • Draft 3'
  • Speed 19 kts.
  • Armament: One 1-pounder
  • Propulsion: Two 80hp 6-cylinder Speedway gasoline engines, two shafts.
