SC-1 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Built by the New York Yacht, Launch and Engine Co., Morris Heights, NY
  • Commissioned USS SC-226, 24 December 1917
  • On 6 September 1918 a depth charge exploded and two engines were wrecked while operating with Unit 2 off Land's End, from Plymouth, England
  • She was towed to base at Plymouth, no casualties
  • Sold 20 July 1921 to Henry A. Hitner, Philadelphia, PA
  • Later sold (1925 or earlier) to A. P. Leonard of Georgetown, SC for use as a fishing boat
  • Registered in 1927 to Gar Wood of Algonac, MI as the Miscellaneous vessel By Gar
  • Registered in 1931 to H. C. Hannay of Detroit, MI as the yacht Mary Ann
  • Fate unknown.
