PF-77 served the United Kingdom and Argentina

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate/British Colony Class Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-185
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-77, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down under a Maritime Commission contract at Welsh-Kaiser Co., Inc., Providence, RI
  • Assigned to the Royal Navy under the Lend-Lease Program and named Hannam
  • Renamed HMS Caicos (K 505) and launched 6 September 1943
  • Delivered and transferred to the Royal Navy 31 December 1943
  • Returned to U.S. custody 12 December 1945
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal and sold for scrap in June 1946 to N. B. Walcott of New York, NY
  • Canceled scrapping and resold in July 1947 to Argentina and renamed Santisma Trinidad (P-34)
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists sales date as July 1946
  • Reclassified as a Survey Ship by Argentine Navy in 1963 and renamed Comodoro Augusto Lasere (Q 9)
  • Scrapped in 1970.

  • Speed 20 kts.

  • Armament: Three 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts , nine 20mm guns, one Hedgehog depth charge projector; eight Y-gun depth charge projectors and two depth charge tracks
    1948 - Two 4.1" mounts, eight 40mm mounts, one Hedgehog and six depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 3-drum express boilers, two 5,500 iHP J. Hendy Iron Works engines, two shafts.

    The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory consisting of the larger Caicos Islands and smaller Turks Islands, two groups of tropical islands in the Lucayan Archipelago of the Atlantic Ocean and northern West Indies
