(MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-148

Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-40, 15 April 1943

Laid down 12 June 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract, at Consolidated Steel Corp., Ltd., Wilmington, CA.

Launched 6 July 1943

Commissioned USS Eugene (PF-40), 15 January 1944

Decommissioned 12 June 1946 at Charleston, SC

Struck from the Navy Register 19 July 1946

Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in June 1947 for further transferred to Cuba and renamed Jose Marti (F 301)

Scrapped in 1976.
