BPT-63 served the Navies of Great Britian and Italy.
BPT-21 Class Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 2 March 1943 as BPT-64 by Annapolis Yacht Yard, Annapolis, MD
  • Launched 15 June 1943
  • Completed 20 October 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 20 November 1943 and named HM MTB-374
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 15 October 1945
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in August 1946
  • Transferred to Italy in February 1947 at Palermo, Sicily; reclassified as a Torpedo Recovery Craft and renamed GIS-009
  • Cannibalized for spares and scrapped.

    Specifications:

  • Armament: One twin .50 cal. Vickers machine gun in Mk V turret, two 21" torpedoes and two depth charges
  • Propulsion: Three 3,600shp Packard W-14 M2500 gasoline engines, three shafts.
