PTC-11 served the Navies of the United States and Great Britain

PTC-1 Class Motor Boat Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 13 August 1940 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 12 March 1941
  • Placed in service 27 March 1941 and assigned to Motor Boat Submarine Chaser Squadron One under the command of LTJG John D. Bulkeley, USN
  • Transferred to Great Britain 4 April 1941 and reclassified HM MGB-92
  • Lost in accidental fire 16 July 1941 on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, England
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists date of loss as 20 April 1944.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 27 t.
  • Length 70'
  • Beam 15' 3"
  • Draft 3' 10"
  • Speed 30 kts.
  • Complement 11
  • Armament: Two twin .50 cal. Browning M2 machine guns and 24 depth charges
  • Propulsion: Two 1,300shp Hall-Scott Defender gasoline engines, two shafts.
