78' Higgins Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 8 May 1944 by Higgins Industries, New Orleans, LA
  • Launched 23 June 1944
  • Completed 30 August 1944, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THIRTY TWO (MTBRon 32) under the command of LCDR Robert C. Wark, USNR
  • MTBRon 32, assigned to Pacific Fleet, had action at Treasury Island in the Solomons during the period December 1944 to February 1945. The squadron based at Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides, from
    February to August 1945, and at Okinawa from September to December 1945, but had no action with the enemy while at these bases
  • The "Snuffy Smith", ex-"Cocky 4", was placed out of service 18 December 1945
  • Struck from the Naval Register 8 January 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in May 1946 and sold
  • Fate unknown.
