Launched 13 January 1943

Completed 30 January 1943, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron ELEVEN (PTRon 11) under the command of Lt. Comdr. Leroy T. Taylor, USN

PTRon 11, assigned to the South Pacific, had action at Rendova, Vella Lavella, Bougainville, and Emirau. Transferred to the Southwest Pacific in June 1944, the squadron had action at Morotai, in the Halmaheras. It also based for

a time at Mios Woendi, Dutch New Guinea, but had no action from that base. PT's 177, 182, 185, and 186, designated as Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron ELEVEN-TWO (PTRon 11-2), under command of Lt. John H.

Stillman, USNR, relieved Division 2 of Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THREE (2) at Funafuti, in the Ellice Group in July 1943. PTRon 11-2 rejoined the parent squadron at Emirau in May 1944

The "Black Cat" was placed out of service 11 November 1945, stripped and destroyed by U.S. Forces at Samar, Philippines.
