78' Huckins Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 10 August 1942 by the Huckins Yacht Co., Jacksonville, FL
  • Launched 6 November 1942
  • Completed 30 November 1942, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FOURTEEN (PTRon 14) under the command of Lt. Richard E. Johnson, USN
  • PTRon 14 was assigned to Panama Sea Frontier. It had no action with the enemy
  • Transferred 17 September 1944 to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FOUR (PTRon 4) under the command of Comdr. James B. Denny, USN
  • PTRon 4 was the training squadron, based at the MTB Squadrons Training Center, Melville, R.I. It was the largest squadron, having a peak of 28 boats in service at one time
  • The "Lazy Lum", ex-"Evil Old Boat" was placed out of service 7 January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 21 January 1946
  • Transferred to the War Shipping Administration 21 October 1946 and sold
  • Fate unknown.
