BYMS-2213 served the Navies of Great Britain and Germany
YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 13 June 1942 as YMS-213 by Robert Jacobs Inc., City Island, NY
  • Launched 13 November 1942
  • Completed 17 June 1943, transferred to the Royal Navy and reclassified HM J-1013
  • Reclassified HM BYMS-2213
  • Struck from the Naval Register 28 August 1947
  • Returned to U.S. custody 14 May 1948; transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission; sold to Germany; converted to an Experimental Research Vessel and named
    Adolf Bestelmeyer (Y 881)
  • Decommissioned 26 June 1987 to Kerkrade, Holland
  • Sold in 1989 for commercial use under the Honduran flag and renamed Laida
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, two depth charge projectors
