Unalga served the Revenue Cutter Service, the U. S. Navy and the Coast Guard.

Miami Class Revenue Cutter:

  • Built in 1912 by the Newport News Shipbuilding Co., Newport News, VA
  • Launched 10 February 1912
  • Commissioned USRC Unalga 23 May 1912 at Arundel Cove, MD
  • Transferred to the Navy 6 April 1917; Returned to the Coast Guard 28 August 1919 and struck from the Navy list
  • Decommissioned 16 February 1931 at Arundel Cove
  • Recommissioned 23 April 1932
  • Transferred to the Navy in September 1933
  • Returned to the Coast Guard 1 November 1933
  • Transferred to the Navy again 1 November 1941
  • Designated WPG-53 in 1942
  • Decommissioned 10 October 1945 and transferred to the War Shipping Administration
  • Sold 19 July 1946 and renamed Ulua and Chaim Arlosoroff
  • Ran aground 27 February 1947 at Bat Galim, Palestine
  • Fate unknown.

  • Speed 7.9 kts. (cruising), 12.5 kts. (maximum)

  • Propulsion: One boiler, one 1,300ihp triple-expansion steam engine, one shaft.
