Achelous Class Landing Craft Repair Ship:
  • Originally planned as LST-954 but laid down, 19 September 1944 as ARL-17 at Bethlehem Hingham Corp., Hingham, MA.
  • Launched, 18 October 1944
  • Towed or Ferried to her conversion yard at Baltimore
  • Converted to a Landing Craft Repair Ship (ARL) at Bethlehem Key Highway Yard, Baltimore, MD.
  • Commissioned USS Numitor (ARL-17), 3 April 1945, LT. Davis Minshew, USNR in command
  • During World War II USS Numitor was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater
  • Following World War II USS Numitor was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from 2 September 1945 to 22 February 1946
  • Decommissioned, 1 July 1947, at Orange, TX.
  • Laid up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Texas Group, Orange
  • Struck from Naval Register, 1 April 1960
  • Final Disposition, sold to Southern Scrap Metal Co., New Orleans, LA., hull later sold to Dravo Corp for conversion to a drydock
