186k LCT(6)-575,26 May 1944, Bougainville Island. Eighty men and six armored halftracks of the U.S. Army 21st Reconnaissance Troop (Mechanized), American Division embarked on board LCT(6)-575. The first part of the operation LCT(6)-575 disembarked these troops and equipment on the beach south of Reini River. The troops and equipment were later transferred by the LCT from the original landing point and disembarked near the Tekessi River. The patrol directed 3-Inch, 40mm, 37mm and .50 calibure fire to the south of Tekessi in conjunction with Army artillery fire from the Magine Islands. The patrol discovered three abandoned coastal gun emplacements near the Tekessi River and captured four natives and one chief who were returned to the base for questioning. Cover was provided by USS LCI(L)-24.
