  • Assembled, launched and placed in service at Mare Island Navy Yard
  • During World War II LCT(5)-180 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater:
    LCT Flotilla Five, LCDR Paul A. Wells;
     LCT Group Thirteen;
     LCT Division Twenty Five and participated in the following campaigns:

    LCT-180 104k A crane unloads sections of flexible steel matting from LCT(5)-180 and LCT(5)-156 to build a runway at the Bougainvile airfield, Solomon Islands, circa December 1943. Loaded on trucks the matting was moved to the airfield where it was welded together to form the runway.
