  • Launched, 15 May 1944
  • Commissioned USS LST-567, 1 June 1944, LT. Paul A. Day, USNR, in command
  • During World War II USS LST-567 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the following campaigns:

    Leyte operation
    Leyte landings, 20 October and 8 to 29 November 1944
    Luzon operation
    Lingayen Gulf landings, 9 January 1945
    Okinawa Gunto operation
    Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, 8 to 30 June 1945
     

  • For the Okinawa Gunto operation USS LST-567 was assigned to:
    LST Flotilla Three, CDR. A. A. Ageton USN (23);
    LST Group Eight;
    LST Division Sixteen
  • Following WWII USS LST-567 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from 2 September 1945 to 28 January 1946
  • Decommissioned, 28 January 1946 and assigned to Commander Naval Forces Far East (COMNAVFE) Shipping Control Authority for Japan (SCAJAP), redesignated Q032
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 31 October 1947
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission (MARAD), 24 May 1948
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 24 May 1948, to Bethlehem Steel Co., Bethlehem, PA.

    Cargo Capacity (varied with mission - payloads between 1600 and 1900 tons)
    Typical loads
    One Landing Craft Tank (LCT), tanks, wheeled and tracked vehicles, artillery, construction equipment and military supplies. A ramp or elevator forward allowed vehicles access to tank deck from main deck
    Additional capacity included sectional pontoons carried on each side of vessel amidships, to either build Rhino Barges or use as causeways. Married to the bow ramp, the causeways would enabled payloads to be delivered ashore from deeper water or where a beachhead would not allow the vessel to be grounded forward after ballasting
    Armament (varied with availability when each vessel was outfitted. Retro-fitting was accomplished throughout WWII. The ultimate armament design for United States vessels was
