Painting of HM LCI(L)-268 during the evacuation of Hvar crossing the Adriatic Sea in 90 mph gale with 627 women and
children and 15 mortally wounded male and female Partisans on board. The Partisans were tied to the decks with rope and were given morphine injections by members of the
crew. During passage ship’s maximum roll was measured and found to be 65 degrees. |
