    Bougainville - The Bougainville campaign was a series of land and naval battles of the Pacific campaign of World War II between Allied forces and the Empire of Japan, named after the island of Bougainville. It was part of Operation Cartwheel, the Allied grand strategy in the South Pacific. (Wikipedia)

    Bougainville 52k Artist's rendering of USS Bougainville (LHA-8) Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division is scheduled to begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2018, and delivery is expected in 2024. Bougainville will retain the aviation capability of the America-class design while adding a well deck capable of launching two landing craft air cushion hovercraft or one landing craft utility. Bougainville will have a larger flight deck configured for Joint Strike Fighter and Osprey V-22 aircraft.
