Florida was not issued a letter of marque nor was she a commissioned or non-commissioned ship of the Confederate States.
She operated as a "junior privateer during the early states of the war.
Reportedly she capture a Federal prize vessel but was forced to beach her because a Federal vessel gave chase.
Little to nothing is really know about this vessel. It is not known if she was privately owned, or a North Carolina public vessel
