Commissioned USS Restless in December 1861, Acting Volunteer LT. Edward Conroy in command
During the Civil War USS Restless was assigned to the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron off Charleston S. C.
Armed boats from Restless captured and destroyed sloop Edisto, schooners Wandoo, Elizabeth and Theodore Stony, 14 February 1862
During the next few months Restless intercepted five more blockade runners; two schooners were kept as prizes; one sloop and two schooners were destroyed.
Captured the schooner Flash, 2 May while on station off Rattlesnake Shoal and Caper's Island
Between May and October Restless captured steamer Scotia, two sloops, and a large canoe; and assisted in intercepting two other steamers and a schooner
Restless along with USS Flag captured steamer Anglia, 19 October 1862
USS Restless was reassigned to the Eastern Gulf Blockading Squadron in June 1863, off the coast of western Florida
Captured a schooner and sloop in Peace Creek, Charlotte Harbor in early July
Took the schooner Erniti, 19 August
USS Restless was decommissioned at Philadelphia and sold 21 September 1865
