USS Enterprise (IV)


Schooner:
  • Built at New York Navy Yard
  • Launched, 26 October 1831
  • Commissioned USS Enterprise, 15 December 1831, LT. S. W. Downing in command
  • Enterprise sailed, 12 January 1832, for the Brazil Station until April of 1834
  • Returned to New York for repair and refit, April to July 1834
  • Returning to the Brazil Station in July 1834
  • Enterprise departed in April 1835 joining sloop USS Peacock for a Far East cruise by way of Africa, India, and the East Indies
  • Continuing eastward, Enterprise called at Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, in September of 1836, then proceeded to the west coast of Mexico, arriving at Mazatlan 28 October 1836
  • She cruised the west coast of South America until March of 1839 when she departed Valparaiso, Chile, to round the Horn, call at Rio de Janeiro, and sail on to Philadelphia
  • Inactivated at Philadelphia, 12 July 1839
  • Recommissioned, 29 November 1839
  • Sailed, 16 March 1840, from New York for South America
  • Returned, 20 June 1844, to Boston Navy Yard
  • Decommissioned, 24 June 1844
  • Sold, 28 October 1844.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
