Cutter:
  • Purchased in February 1777 at Dover, England
  • Outfitted for use in the Continental Navy at Nantes, France
  • Placed under the command of LT. S. Nicholson and sailed from St. Auzeau, France 28 May 1777 with Reprisal and Lexington, in a squadron commanded by CAPT. L. Wickes in Reprisal
  • During their cruise off Ireland the squadron captured eighteen prizes, throwing British shipping circles into an uproar
  • After being chased off by the British Dolphin made port at St. Malo, France, 27 June 1777
  • Dolphin was seized by the British, 19 September at Loire, France
