Sternwheel Steamer (Tinclad No.32):
  • Built in 1831 at Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Purchased by the Navy, 21 December 1864, at Cincinnati, OH.
  • Converted to a so-called "tinclad" gunboat at Mound City, IL.
  • Commissioned USS Abeona, 10 April 1865, at Mound City, Acting Master Samuel Hall in command
  • USS Abeona was assigned to patrol and guard duty on the Mississippi River and its tributaries
  • Decommissioned, 4 August 1865, at Mound City, IL.
  • Sold, 11 August 1865, to J. A. Williamson et al
  • Re-documented under the same name, 17 October 1865, operated on the Mississippi
  • Final Disposition, destroyed by a fire at Cincinnati, 7 March 1872
