USS General Taylor
Sidewheel Steamer:
Purchased by the War Department in 1840 and served as transport ship during the Seminole War
Transferred to the Navy in 1842
Converted to a tug in 1845 operating from Pensacola Naval Yard
Burned to the waterline 1846 then rebuilt with new machinery to original dimensions
Served as dispatch vessel until April 1852 when she was sold at public auction
