Laid down, date unknown, by by Reaney, Son & Archbold of Chester,Chester, PA.
Launched, 13 March 1864
Delivered, 14 December 1864 to the Philadelphia Navy Yard,
Commissioned, USS Suwanee, 23 January 1865, CDR. Paul Shirley in command
Suwanee assigned to the Pacific Squadron, departed Philadelphia, 17 February 1865, and proceeded via New York down the Atlantic coast and up the Pacific Coast looking
for Confederate commerce raiders, especially for CSS Shenandoah, which had been plaguing Northern shipping
She then steamed up the Pacific coast and arrived at Acapulco, Mexico, where she joined the Pacific Squadron, 30 July 1865
Upon her arriveal Suwanee was promptly ordered to sea to contunue the quest for Shenandoah
Following Shenandoah's surrender at Liverpool, England, late in the year, Suwanee cruised along the Pacific coast from Mexico to Canada
Final Disposition, wrecked, 9 July 1868, in Shadwell Passage, Queen Charlotte Sound, British Columbia
