USS Nantasket
Swatara-class Steam Screw Sloop-of-War:
Laid down in 1864, at Boston Navy Yard, Boston, MA.
Launched, 15 August 1867
Commissioned USS Nantasket, 22 October 1869, LCDR. F. M. Bunce, USN in command.
Nantasket was assigned to the North Atlantic Squadron, stationed at Samana Bay, Santo Domingo, for the next two years
While based at this island, she made numerous short voyages carrying messages to American officials on various islands in the Caribbean occasionally she also carried officials as passengers
She continued this duty until 30 April 1872
Nantasket depart Samana Bay 5 June, sailing to Key West, arriving 8 June
She continued on to Portsmouth, N.H. Navy Yard where she was decommissioned and remained in ordinary
Struck from the Naval Vessel Register 22 July 1875 and sold in 1883
