Ranger Tracker Class Missile Range Instrumentation Ship:
  • Laid down, 6 April 1945, as SS Skidmore Victory, a Maritime Commission type (VC2-S-AP3) hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MCV hull 685) at Oregon Shipbuilding Corp., Portland, OR.
  • Delivered to Northland Transportation, 18 June 1945, later served American President Lines as SS President Buchanan
  • Delivered to the Maritime Commission (date unknown) for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet
  • Acquired by the US Navy in the late 1950s and assigned to the Military Sealift Command (MSC)
  • Converted to a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship at Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp., Pascagoula, MS.
  • Placed in service as Miscellaneous Unclassified USNS Range Tracker (T-AG-160), 12 July 1960
  • Redesignated Missile Range Instrumentation Ship (T-AGM-1), 27 November 1960
  • Placed out of service, 27 September 1969, at Port Hueneme. CA.
  • Transferred to the Maritime Administration, 12 November 1969, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 28 April 1970
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 10 July 1970, to American Ship Dismantlers, Inc.
