Born 3 February 1916 in Geneso, IL.

A graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy in the Class of 1937, Captain Lytle has spent most of his career at sea in submarines. His last command was the USS Sperry (AS-12). He is a graduate of
the Naval War College and Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He has served on the staff of the Naval War College. Captain Lytle then served in the Logistic Plans Division of the
Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. In February 1967 he retired from the U.S. Navy. He died 20-JUN-2001 in California at age of 85.
