  • Laid down, 26 October 1944, as a Maritime Commission type (T3-S2-A1) tanker hull, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2559) at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard, Sparrows Point, MD.
  • Launched, 14 April 1945
  • Commissioned USS Allagash (AO-97), 21 August 1945, LCDR. Howard C. Plummer, USNR, in command
  • Decommissioned, 21 December 1970, at Boston, MA.
  • Custody transferred to the Maritime Administration, 13 November 1971, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, James River, Fort Eustis, VA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 June 1973
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 22 March 1976, to Union Minerals and Alloys Corp. (PD-X-1004) dated 16 March 1976, for $386,131.00. Withdrawn for the Reserve Fleet 22 March 1976, delivered to Hugo Neu Corp, Newark N. J.
