USS Yew (AN-37) was transferred to France and renamed Scorpion (A-728)
Aloe Class Net Laying Ship:
  • Laid down, as Yard Net Tender YN-32, 22 May 1941, at John H. Mathis Co,, Camden, N.J.
  • Launched, 4 October 1941
  • Placed in service as Yew (YN-32), 1 July 1942
  • Commissioned USS Yew (YN-32), 30 September 1942
  • Reclassified as a Net Tender Ship redesignated USS Yew (AN-37), 1 January 1944
  • Decommissioned, 30 November 1944, at Oran, Algeria, simultaneously transferred to the French Navy under lend-lease, renamed RFS Scorpion (A-728)
  • Returned to US custody, 21 March 1949 and sold outright to France the same day
  • Yew was struck from the Naval Register, 28 April 1949
  • Final Disposition, sunk at Cikobia Island, Fiji, 30 July 1978, while under tow by RFS Locuste (A-765) [ex-USS Locust (AN-22)]. RFS Locuste struck a reef causing both vessels to sink
