    Soderman 356k A US Army Humvee is the first vehicle to roll off USNS Soderman (T-AKR-299) at Rijeka, Croatia, on Aug. 23, 1998. Soderman, one of the US Navy's large, medium-speed, roll-on/roll-off ships, is off-loading 29 helicopters and hundreds of vehicles and containers in support of the US Army 1st Cavalry Division deployment to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Operation Joint Forge. This is the first time a port in the former Republic of Yugoslavia is being used to off-load heavy combat equipment in support of NATO peacekeeping forces in the region. The 1st Cavalry is deployed from Fort Hood, Texas.
