Acquired by the Navy under a long-term charter in 1984

Converted by Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point, MD.

Launched in 1985

Placed in service under the direction of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as MV 1ST LT Alex Bonnyman (AK-3003), 26 September 1985, operated by Maersk Line Ltd.

MV 1ST LT Alex Bonnyman (AK-3003) is one of the Military Sealift Command's seventeen Container & Roll-on/Roll-off Ships and is part of the 33 ships in the Prepositioning Program.

MV1ST LT Alex Bonnyman (AK-3003) is assigned to Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron Three. She carries equipment to support a US Marine Corps Expeditionary Brigade
