CPL Louis J. Hauge Jr., Class Maritime Prepositioning Ship:
  • Built by Odense Staalskibsvaerft A/S, Lindo, Denmark, as MV Estelle Maersk in 1979
  • Acquired by the Navy under a long-term charter in 1983
  • Converted by Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point, MD.
  • Launched on 14 July 1984
  • Placed in service under the direction of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as MV CPL Louis J. Hauge, Jr. (AK-3000), 7 September 1984, operated by Maersk Line Ltd.
  • MV CPL Louis J. Hauge, Jr. (AK-3000) was one of the Military Sealift Command's seventeen Container & Roll-on/Roll-off Ships and was part of the 33 ships in the Prepositioning Program.
  • MV CPL Louis J. Hauge, Jr. (AK-3000) was assigned to Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron Three. She carried equipment to support a US Marine Corps Expeditionary Brigade
  • Returned to commercial service in 2009, renamed MV Abby G, operated by Maersk Line Ltd.
  • Early 2010, operated by Sealift Inc., name retained
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping in August 2010, delivered to Alang, India for dismantling
