  • Contracted, 4 September 1941, to be built as Oliver R. Mumford under a Maritime Commission contract
  • Acquired by the US Navy, 28 December 1942, renamed Media (AK-83)
  • Media (AK-83) was laid down, 28 January 1943, as a Maritime Commission type (N3-M-A1) hull, under Maritime Commission contract, (MC hull 468), at Penn-Jersey Shipbuilding Co., Camden, N.J.
  • Launched, 29 August 1943
  • Completed and delivered to the US Army Transportation Service, 17 November 1943
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 24 November 1943
  • Allocated to the US Army Corps of Engineers
  • Renamed USAPRS Glenn Gerald Griswold, conversion to a a Port Rehabilitation Ship completed circa June 1944 at Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard, Inc., Baltimore, MD.
  • Glenn Gerald Griswold operated in European ports as a Corps of Engineers port repair ship until her transfer to the Maritime Commission in 1947
  • Returned to the Maritime Commission, 13 August 1947, at the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Lee Hall, VA.
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping 17 May 1967, to Boston Metals Co., Baltimore, MD. (PD-X-759 dated 21 April 1967) for $52,666.00, withdrawn from the reserve fleet, 8 June 1967
