Atlantic Ocean, 1 July 2004 - An MH-60S Knighthawk assigned to the "Chargers" of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC-6) transfers cargo to the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) during a vertical replenishment with the fast combat support ship USS Detroit (AOE 4). Gettysburg is forward deployed, as part of the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) Carrier Strike Group (CSG). The Enterprise CSG is one of seven participating in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).

ATLANTIC OCEAN, 04 October 2012 - The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) fires its Mark 45 Mod 2, 5-inch 54-caliber, lightweight gun toward a range on the coast of Scotland. Gettysburg is taking part in Exercise Joint Warrior. Joint Warrior takes place off the coast of Scotland and is designed and led by the joint tactical exercise planning staff in the United Kingdom. It is intended to improve interoperability between allied navies and prepare participants for a role in a joint maritime environment during deployments.
