This photo comes from the Hoyt "Bud" Colburn collection (forwarded by Carol Edgemon Hipperson author of Radioman: An Eyewitness Account of Pearl Harbor & World War II in the Pacific).Chancellorsville won the Spokane Trophy for 1995, but Bud says that the formal presentation during which the photo was taken occurred in 1996. He's not sure which month. (For the past several years, the Navy has typically announced the winner in May or June, but the annual Seattle Seafair festival is in July.)

Here is what Bud says about the attached photo:

"It was awarding the 1995 Spokane Trophy to CAPT Ed Hebert Commanding Officer of USS CHANCELORVILLE (CG 62). We from the Navy League Spokane Council had gone down to San Diego to ride the ship to SeaFair and he invited us to view the Trophy and see the award. Since then, Spokane has made a local plaque and presented it to the ship in person when practical. We had to mail it to one ship because they were in Japan, but have traveled to Pearl many times as well as Seattle or San Diego."

Seated to the right of trophy is CAPT Ed Hebert, behind him is Paul Gourd, to his left John Berry, to his left is me (Bud Colburn), back row, standing, second from left is N.A. "Stretch" Brown.
