    1.Though supposedly "confirmed" postwar as the Japanese submarine RO-32, this unit had been stricken 01 Apr 1942 and on this date was a stationary training hulk at the submarine school at Otake. It is unknown what submarine, if any, was attacked on this date. Both COs, LT Neils P. Thomsen, USCG, of YP-251, and LT Ralph Burns, USCG, of McLane received the Legion of Merit for this action.
