District Patrol Craft
  • Built by Lake Union Dry Dock and Machine Works, Seattle, WA
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Commissioned as CG-267, 1925
  • Stationed at San Pedro, CA, 1925 - 1934
  • Transferred to the US Navy, January 1934
  • Placed in service as YP-16, 03 February 1934
  • Assigned to Thirteenth Naval District, training reservists, 1934-1940
  • YP-16 was delivered along with YP-17 by USS Ramapo (AO-12) to Apra Harbor, Guam, 22 October 1940
  • Both were to augment the local defenses and to provide naval surveillance and reconnaissance in the waters around Guam
  • Driven aground in typhoon at Piti, Guam, 03 November 1940
  • Damaged by strafing Japanese aircraft and abandoned, 10 December 1941
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 24 July 1942
  • YP-16 earned one battle star for World War II service for the Philippine Islands Operation (including Guam)
