Confident (BYT-2)

Busy (Allaquippa) Class District Harbor Tug:
  • Contract awarded, 16 June 1941
  • Laid down in 1941 as the Lend-Lease Harbor Tug Confident (BYT-2), for Britain, by General Motors and Gulfport Boiler and Welding Works, Port Arthur, TX.
  • Launched, 11 December 1941
  • Completed, 31 December 1941 and transferred to Great Britain under terms of the Lend-Lease Act, commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMT Confident
  • Returned to US Naval Custody, in 1945
  • Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Transferred to the Office of Foreign Liquidation in July 1947 for disposal
  • Transferred to Greece, renamed HS Engelados later renamed HS Achilleus (A-409)
  • Decommissioned by the Greek navy in early 2000's
  • Sold by auction in 2005
  • Final Disposition, reported to be laid up at Ambelaki Bay, Salamis Island off Athens, Greece circa 2005
